Oscar Valdez Will Return to Tucson as World Champion
The newly crowned world champion will be a special guest at the ‘Solo Boxeo UniMás’ card that will take place this Saturday at Casino del Sol in Tucson, AZ.
TUCSON, ARIZONA – Valdez returns home as world champ! Newly crowned World Boxing Organization (WBO) Featherweight titlist, unbeaten Mexican power puncher, Oscar Valdez, will make a victorious return to the city where he grew up, after accomplishing his goal of becoming a world champion.
The former two-time Olympian will share a good time with his people this Saturday, August 6, at the ‘Solo Boxeo UniMas’ card that will take place at Casino Del Sol.
Valdez (20-0, 18 KO’s), who was born in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, reached his dream of capturing a world title last month after blasting Argentina’s Matías ‘La Cobrita’ Rueda with a second round knockout in the co-featured bout of the Crawford vs. Postol event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
“I have been dreaming of this day since I was 8 years old,” said the Mexican fighter. “I have always wanted to return to Tucson as a world champion. Boxing is my passion. I would like to thank Top Rank, my father, my manager Frank Espinoza. Dreams do come true,” affirmed Valdez.
Details about Valdez first world title defense will be announced soon.
