Plant vs. Medina Results

Caleb “Sweethands” Plant (17-0, 10 Kos) entered the ring tonight in El Paso, Texas tonight to take on Mexico’s Rogelio “Porky” Medina (38-9, 32 Kos) in a 12 round Super Middleweight IBF title eliminator.

Ironically, “Porky” did not make the designated 168 pound limit, removing the possibility of immediate advancement following this fight.

Over the first several rounds Medina followed the slick Plant around the ring while “Sweethands” showed no sense of urgency, comfortably picking his shots and stinging his rival with an occasional straight right hand.

In Round 5 Medina attempted to go on a Plant based diet, pinning his rival on the ropes and letting his hands go in his best flurry of the evening. Plant, seemingly unbothered, slid out and resumed the dissection of his opponent.

In Round 11 Medina, seeming to understand that a knockout was his only chance at victory, picked up the intensity and banked the round thus ending what appeared to be a virtual shutout pitched by Caleb Plant.

At the end of 12 one-sided rounds Plant was announced the winner by unanimous decision scores of 120-108, 119-109 and 117-111.
