This Thursday on Fox Sports 1/Fox Deportes, super featherweights, Jayson Velez and Daniel Ramirez face off in the main event of Golden Boy Promotions’ LA Fight Club.

Ramirez (11-2, 5 KOs) is coming off a loss against Eric Hunter last November, and is ready to redeem himself by taking on another big name like Velez (22-0-1, 16 KOs). His training camp, and positive mindset have fully prepped him for this fight and Ramirez tells Round By Round Boxing that he’s completely ready to go despite the odds.

Round By Round Boxing: How was your training camp, and how have you prepped for a fighter like Jayson Velez?

Daniel Ramirez: Camp was good, I’m always in the gym, always ready for what comes my way. We made the right adjustments to prove I’m ready to bounce back. Just because I have two losses doesn’t mean I’m a bad fighter. So we worked hard, and now I’m ready.

RBRBoxing: How does it feel to be the main event for Thursday’s edition of “LA Fight Club?”

DR: I’m very thankful, very excited. This is my first time fighting in Los Angeles. I feel honored. I’m so lucky to get another good fight after my loss to Eric [Hunter] and on such a big stage.

Velez Golden Boy

RBRBoxing: Without looking too much into the future, what do you hope to happen for your boxing career?

DR: I want to make a good living out of it, make good money, and take care of my family. I also want people to remember my name, and the good fighter I am.

RBRBoxing: Does it bother you that Velez seems to be looking past you and is asking for the rematch with Evgeny Gradovich?

DR: Not bothered by it at all. If he’s not focused on me, the guy in front of him, then that’s his problem. All I know is, my focus is on beating him.

Daniel Ramirez certainly shouldn’t be overlooked as he seems to have underrated power and is a good counter puncher. Velez is fast and has knockout power in both hands, but leaves himself open rather often for counter shots.

This will be a great main event on Thursday night, as both fighters have something to prove, and both are wanting to take their career to the next level.

Ramirez wants to thank his family, his fans and his manager for all their support and hard work. He also thanks the media and Round By Round Boxing for taking the time for the interview.
