RBRBoxing: What age did you start boxing? You are the nephew of the late Genaro Hernandez who was the former WBC and WBA, Super Featherweight champion. Describe that relationship?

JR: Started boxing at the age of 12 with my cousins. I started sparring with my cousins on the first day.

Genaro [Hernandez] rarely mentioned boxing, we would talk about other sports besides boxing.

RBRBoxing: How do you feel about the importance of a knockout?

JR: A knockout comes when it comes. I try very hard to give the fans what they deserve and give a knock out. If the knock out does not come, I will punish and torture the opponent ‘til the end of the fight.

RBRBoxing: What is a typical training day for you?

JR: Run, Boxing training, strength conditioning every day except Sunday.

Boxing is a serious sport and if you’re not going to prepare yourself and train then don’t be in the sport.

RBRBoxing: Favorite game console and game?

JR: Xbox 360, Fifa 2013

RBRBoxing: Your opinions on the Featherweight divison? And your aspirations in the future?

JR: The hot weights are at 122, 126, and 130. Great fighters and I respect all the fighters in the Featherweight division.

I would like to capture the titles at 122 and unify the tiles. I want to beat the best guys at the Featherweight division.

My dream is to capture the 122 and 126 titles.

RBRBoxing: Joel De La Hoya is your manager, how did that come about?

JR: Joel saw my second professional fight, aganist Salvador Cifuentes. I won by KO victory. Joel liked the way I fought.

Joel is a great manager and has extensive experience in managing fighters.

Golden Boy Promotions is my future, best promoter and best money.

RBRBoxing: What is your prediction on the MayweatherCanelo and Garcia-Matthysse fight?

JR: I root for the underdogs. Canelo and Garcia are my selections.

Canelo needs to work on his conditioning in order to break down Mayweather.

Garcia-Matthysse fight is pretty even fight.

RBRBoxing: Thank you for your time and we look forward to following up.
