Sergey Kovalev is one month away from his next fight against Cedric Agnew on HBO on Saturday, March 29, 2014.

Even though Agnew is the opponent, Kovalev has been engaged in a war of words with fellow Light Heavyweight champion, Adonis Stevenson.

After Stevenson went on a tirade last week against Kovalev and his trainer John David Jackson, Kovalev responded via Boxing Scene, saying that Stevenson is an impostor and that he is ready to face the Canadian for any amount of money.

Round By Round Boxing’s Dominique Silva caught up with Kovalev today to get his thoughts on Stevenson and more.

Round By Round Boxing: With Adonis Stevenson’s recent signing with Al Haymon, Stevenson is now asking for more than a million dollars to fight you. Will this put a hamper on a mega fight with you two later this year?

Sergey Kovalev: Yes, but a real fighter and champion will fight, regardless. A million dollars is a lot of money, so you say you’re the best, you know, well then fight me. I mean, million dollars is a lot money.

RBRBoxing: I read on another boxing website that you are considering changing your nickname to Kryptonite, are you really thinking about this or was it a joke?

SK: No, no, it was a joke. I am the Krusher, I will have the Kryptonite coming into the ring with me [raises his fist, laughing].

RBRBoxing: If the Stevenson fight doesn’t happen, will you consider calling out Andre Ward to move up to Light Heavyweight or maybe a Catchweight to make that fight happen?

SK: Yes, if we can’t make the fight happen with Stevenson, then yes that is a fight I would like at Light Heavyweight.

RBRBoxing: Tomorrow night, Vasyl Lomanchenko is fighting for the world title against Orlando Salido, who lost his title on the scales. Do you believe he will win?

SK: Yes, Vasyl is a champion and I think he will win tomorrow.

RBRBoxing: Thank you champ!
