Last October, Randy Caballero won the IBF Bantamweight title against Stuart Hall in Monte Carlo.

Despite winning a major world title, Caballero remains hungry.

“I’m still hungry. Just because I won this title doesn’t mean I’m not hungry,” said Caballero at a recent press conference announcing his fight against Alberto Guevara, which will take place in Caballero’s hometown of Indio, California at the Fantasy Springs Casino on February 27.

The 12-round fight will be the main event of a card presented on Fox Sports 1 and is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.

Also on the card are Diego De La Hoya, Taishan Dong, Oscar Negrete, and Nick Arce in separate fights.

Caballero, 24, will have to remain hungry as he takes on a tough opponent in Guevara, 24, of Mexico, who despite having a low knockout ratio, had the chin to at least give Leo Santa Cruz a relatively tough fight in 2012.

Guevara was indeed stopped in 2013 by Shinsuke Yamanaka, but a knockout win last November and the fact that his brother, Pedro, won the WBC Light Flyweight title in December, may reveal some added motivation for him.

Caballero eyes a future with more world titles in a division that also includes Yamanaka and Tomoki Kameda, so big unification fights may be on the way.

First, however, he’ll have to return home in proper fashion on February 27.
