RBRBoxing Results: Danny Garcia vs. Robert Guerrero

On Saturday, January 23, 2016, Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) took on Robert Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs) for the vacant WBC Welterweight title at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

On Saturday, January 23, 2016, Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) took on Robert Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs) for the vacant WBC Welterweight title at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

The scheduled 12-round fight headlined a PBC on FOX card in the U.S.

In the co-main event, Sammy Vasquez (20-0, 14 KOs) took on Aaron Martinez (20-4-1,4 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round Welterweight fight.

Danny Garcia vs. Robert Guerrero, 12 rounds, for vacant WBC Welterweight title

After a tough start, Garcia found his rhythm and scored a unanimous decision victory against Guerrero.

Guerrero started early with shots to the body and constant aggression, but Guerrero’s aggression disappeared in the later rounds, where Garcia was able to capitalize with right hooks and solid footwork.

All judges scored the fight 116-112 for Garcia.

Sammy Vasquez vs. Aron Martinez, 10 rounds, Welterweights

In yet another defeat on the stool, Vasquez scored a sixth-round knockout victory after Martinez retired on his tool.

Wheter on the outside or at close range, Vasquez was smarter, faster and more effective than Martinez, which allowed Vasquez to gradually wear Martinez down.

The fans were not happy at yet another victory that was won with the opponent still on his stool.

Dominic Breazeale vs. Amir Mansour, 10 rounds, Heavyweights

Breazeale scored a fifth-round stoppage against Mansour after the latter could not continue into Round 6.

Breazeale was dropped once in Round 3 and hurt several times. Although the tide was turning in his favor, Breazeale was losing every round at the time of the stoppage.

Alejandro Luna vs. Alan Herrera, 10 rounds, Lightweights

Luna scored an eighth-round stoppage against Herrera, who suffered a cut in his left eye in Round 6 from a punch.

Herrera, after taking too much punishment, could not leave the stool for Round 9.

Herrera cut left eye from punch in rd 6. Herrera doesn’t come out for rd 9.

Min Wook Kim vs. Erick Martinez, 8 or 10 rounds, Junior Welterweights

Kim scored a fifth-round knockout victory against Martinez.

Luis Bello vs. Jesus Aguinaga, 6 rounds, lightweights

Aguinaga scored a majority decision victory against Bello.

One judge had it a draw, while two others scored it 55-59 and 56-58 for Aguinaga.

Sergio Quiroz vs. Damon Simon, 4 rounds, junior featherweights

Quiroz scored a four-round unanimous decision victory against Simon. Two judges scored the fight 40-36, 40-36, and 39-37 for Quiroz.

Antonio Santa Cruz vs. Victor Torres, 4 rounds, bantamweights

Torres scored a split-decision victory against Santa Cruz, and even dropped the younger brother of Leo Santa Cruz in Round 4.

The judges scored the fight 36-39, 37-38, and 38-37.

Jose Gomez vs. Micheal Gaxiola, 4 rounds, featherweights

Gomez scored a four-round unanimous decision victory against Gaxiola. Gaxiola was a tough challenge and unleashed quick combinations throughout the fight, but by the end of the fight, Gomez had him up against the rope and taking a lot of punishment.

All judges scored the fight 40-36 for Gomez.
