RBRBoxing Results: Golovkin vs. Wade – HBO Boxing

On Saturday, April 23, one of boxing’s biggest stars, unified world Middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs), will be defending his WBA, IBF, IBO and WBC “Interim” titles against the undefeated mandatory challenger, Dominic Wade (18-0, 12 KOs).

On Saturday, April 23, one of boxing’s biggest stars, unified world Middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (34-0, 31 KOs) successfully defended his WBA, IBF, IBO and WBC “Interim” titles against the undefeated mandatory challenger, Dominic Wade (18-0, 12 KOs).

The fight took place at the Fabulous Forum and aired live on HBO World Championship Boxing.

Also on the fight card was consensus No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter and the pride of Nicaragua, Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (44-0, 38 KOs) in a defense of his WBC Flyweight title against McWilliams Arroyo (16-2, 14 KOs) of Puerto Rico.

Golovkin Wade - Liam Brady

Gennady Golovkin vs. Dominic Wade

Golovkin stops Wade in Round 2 after 3 pummeling knockdowns.

Round 1: Golovkin comes forward. Wade moves around. Golovkin jabs and moves his head very well as he comes forward. Wade looks for jabs and check hooks, but Golovkin blocks them. By the middle of the round, the body work begins and Golovkin starts landing hard shots on the inside. Golovkin drops Wade at the end of the round with a short right hand to the side of the head.

Round 2: Golovkin pushes forward with jabs and lands a hard right hand that wobbles Wade. Wade recovers and Golovkin continues his forward motion. Jabs set up short shots on the inside for Golovkin. They find the center of the ring and Wade lands shots that Golovkin either takes or defends easily. Golovkin pushes forward again with jabs. Golovkin drops him. Wade does not look good as he gets up. He gets dropped again with a right hand and the fight is over.

Roman Gonzalez vs. McWilliams Arroyo

Gonzalez scored a 12-round unanimous decision against a tough Arroyo to retain his Flyweight titles. Although he tried in every round with vicious combinations, Gonzalez could not stop Arroyo.

Kenia Enriquez vs. Amaris Quintana

Enriquez destroyed Quintana. After dropping Quintana in Round 1, Enriquez stopped her with hard shots in Round 5.

Pedro Duran vs. Pedro Lopez

After dominating Lopez for several rounds, including two knockdowns, Duran stopped Lopez at the end of Round 4 as Lopez was unable to continue into Round 5.

Seniesa Estrada vs. Selene Lopez

Estrada scored a six-round unanimous decision victory against Selene Lopez. Estrada won with three scores of

Ryan Martin vs. Rosbel Montoya 

Martin, who entered the ring to the music of the late, great Prince, won via fifth-round TKO.
