Lineal Flyweight Champion Roman Gonzalez (42-0, 36 KOs) knocked out Valentin Leon (38-29-3, 21 KOs) in the third round of a scheduled 10-round non-title fight in his home country of Nicaragua.

Gonzalez, 27, who is on almost everyone’s top-ten pound-for-pound list, made easy work of the faded veteran as he landed hooks and right hands to stop Leon in Round 3.

Gonzalez was in no danger tonight and the fight was more a showcase in front of his countrymen and women.

Nevertheless, he may have  big fight ahead of him in a rematch with WBA and WBO Flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada.

Gonzalez won their first encounter in the Fall of 2012 in Los Angeles, but a new weight division for both fighters may make things more interesting.
