Filipino Lightweight sensation Romero Duno (15-1, 13 KOs) scored a unanimous-decision victory over Juan Sanchez (29-14, 14 KOs) of Mexico in an eight-round bout to end the non-televised portion of the card.

Duno, a member of the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California was last seen in the United States blasting Christian “Chimpa” Gonzalez in only two rounds in a knockout upset on the March 10 edition of LA Fight Club.

Duno then stopped Jason Tinampay via second round technical knockout in June in his return to the Philippines.

“I’m satisfied with my performance,” said Duno. “Sanchez was a tough competitor. He fights clean and I respect him. I’ve learned a lot from this fight and am going to take the lessons I’ve learned onto the next.”

Duno pressured the action the entire fight while Sanchez landed good body shots and hooks at times. A solid right hand lands for Duno in Round 3 before Sanchez hits him with a hard right hook.

In Round 4, Duno lands a straight right hand which sends Sanchez against the ropes. Duno hits Sanchez with a hard right hook to end the round.

A very game Sanchez lands a right hook before Duno counters with a 1-2 combination at the end of Round 5.

Duno continues to come forward and land hard right hooks. Sanchez is rocked by a straight right hand in the eighth round.

This was Duno’s first fight on U.S. soil since signing with Golden Boy Promotions earlier this year.
