Amari Jones Finishes Jonathan Burrs
Touted American prospect, Amari Jones, began the evening in his second professional bout against Jonathan Burrs. Jones took control towards the end of the first round, landing multiple shots that clearly hurt Burrs. Ultimately, with Burrs hurt, Jones landed a strong right hand sending his opponent to the canvas. Burrs returned to his feet, but stumbled back as the ref called the fight off with four seconds left in the first. Jones is now 2-0 with 2 knockouts in his professional career.
Ramla Ali Shuts out Mikayla Nebel
In the second bout, proud Somali, Ramla Ali defeated Mikayla Nebel by way of shutout Unanimous Decision to improve to 3-0 in her professional career. Ali looked impressive in the win, controlling the majority of the fight mixing her blistering offense with effective defense.
Reshat Mati Outlasts Ryan Pino
In the third bout, Reshat “The Albanian Bear” Mati looked to extended his undefeated record to 10-0 against Ryan Pino. Pino apparently didn’t get the message to behave like an “opponent,” fighting with a spirited effort for the duration of a competitive and exciting bout. The final round was perfectly emblematic of the bout, with both fighters rocking the other and fighting to the bell. Ultimately, Mati was able to earn the Unanimous Decision.
Khalil Coe Finishes Nathaniel Tadd in Pro Debut
To begin the DAZN undercard broadcast, the highly touted 2020 American Olympic hopeful, Khalil Coe, made his pro debut against Nathaniel Tadd. Coe certainly didn’t disappoint, sending Tadd to the canvas in the first round twice with a vicious body attack. The fight was called in the second round when Coe, for a third and final time, sent Tadd to the floor with a body shot. Coe is now 1-0 with a knockout as a pro.
Azinga Fuzile Knocks-out Martin J. Ward
In a scheduled 12 round Super-Featherweight IBF title eliminator, Azinga Fuzile took on the popular British fighter, Marin J. Ward. In the 5th round, Fuzile landed a check right hook on the button that sent Ward to the canvas. The knockdown acted as a catalyst as the action picked up in the following rounds. In the 7th, Fuzile blasted Ward with a right hook that sent him to the canvas yet again. Ward climbed the ropes to his feet, but was clearly compromised. His corner waived the contest off before he experienced any further damage.
Jason Quigley Edges Shane Mosley Jr.
Shane Mosley Jr. and Jason Quigley of Ireland faced off in a 10 round bout for the vacant WBO NABO Middleweight title. In what was the most competitive and compelling bout of the evening so far, Quigley earned a hard fought Majority Decision win on foreign soil. Fans showed their appreciation to both warriors after their 10 rounds of battle, but the mostly pro-Mosley crowd was not pleased with the decision.
Chantelle Cameron Earns TKO over Melissa Hernandez
In the Co-Main Event, Chantelle Cameron defended her WBC Super Lightweight title against the former WBC Featherweight champion Melissa Hernandez. The champion came out strong and exploded offensively landing a number of blistering combinations throughout the early rounds. Cameron eventually sent Hernandez to the canvas in the 4th on way to the referee calling the fight in the 5th round. Although it was a strange, and seemingly early, stoppage, Cameron was in complete control in what was a relatively non-competitive bout.
Devin Haney Defeats Jorge Linares
In the Main Event, Devin Haney defended his belt against Jorge Linares is what began as a relatively one-sided affair in which Haney controlled the bout in almost every aspect. However, as round 10 came to a close, Linares stunned Haney with a blistering combination that had lasting effects into the next round. In what started as a showcase performance for Haney almost ended in a nightmare for the young champ. At the end of the day, however, Haney held on to win a deserved Unanimous Decision against his toughest opponent to date.
