WBC Super Lightweight champion Chantelle Cameron added Mary McGee’s IBF belt and the division’s inaugural RING magazine title to her collection following an action-packed contest in London, the semi-final in a tournament that promised to crown an undisputed champion.
McGee brought the pressure throughout and produced slightly more output (613 total punches to Cameron’s 610), but Cameron’s straighter punches, precise combinations, better jabbing (30.7 attempts/3.9 connects per round to McGee’s 22.8/2.2) mobility, strategic
command and better defense enabled her to win a hard-fought but correctly rendered (and slightly wider than reality) unanimous
decision.
Cameron led 151-114 overall, 39-22 jabs and 112-92 power as well as 25%-19% overall, 13%-10% jabs, 37%-24% power
and 8-2 in the CompuBox round-by-round breakdown of total connects. Scoring: 100-90, 99-92, 99-91.
