Mikey Garcia and Jessie Vargas clashed in a Welterweight bout at Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas on Saturday February 29 live on DAZN in the US and on Sky Sports in the UK.

Mikey Garcia vs. Jessie Vargas
Mikey Garcia secures his first win at the Welterweight division with a solid win over former champion, Jessie Vargas. The fight started with Vargas using his speed and size advantage to score some early rounds.
Garcia would later find the necessary adjustments and in the 5th, Garcia floored Vargas with a great 1-2 down the pipe. From then on, Garcia pressed the action until virtually the final bell. Final scorecards read 114-113 and 116-111 X2 , all in favor of Garcia.
Khalid Yafai vs. Roman Gonzalez
Roman Gonzalez put on a spectacular performance to reclaim the WBA Super Flyweight title with a 9th round TKO win over the long-reigning champion, Khalid Yafai.
While both men started throwing blows from the get-go, it was Gonzalez who was able to sustain the pace. Yafai would get floored at the end of the 8th and finally stopped in the 9th to claim victory for the Nicaraguan.
Julio Cesar Martinez vs. Jay Harris
Julio Cesar Martinez successfully defends his WBC Flyweight title in an action-packed bout against Jay Harris. Harris was very game throughout the bout and landed some great shots against the champion but Martinez simply outgunned the Welsh fighter.
Martinez would floor Harris in the 10th with a body shot but Harris would press on and continue to fight until the final bell. Final scorecards read 118-109, 116-111, and 115-112 all in favor of the champion.
Joseph Parker vs. Shawndell Terell Winters
Former Heavyweight titlist, Joseph Parker dropped Shawndell Winters twice before securing his 5th round TKO stoppage.
Parker was seemingly comfortable for much of the fight but Winters certainly snuck in a few shots, one of which appeared to have opened a small cut on Parker but nothing to worry the New Zealand native. Parker now improves his record to 26-2 with 21 KO’s.
Israil Madrimov vs. Charlie Navarro
Highly touted Israil Madrimov continues to impress spectators and scored another TKO victory for his resume. Madrimov pounded on Navarro for six rounds, dropping Navarro twice in the round before the referee had seen enough and called the fight.
Diego Pacheco vs. Oscar Riojas
Diego Pacheco remains undefeated and improves his record to 9-0 with 7 KO’s. Pacheco applied great pressure and really started to find his groove in the late rounds.
Riojas managed to survive all six rounds but found himself wobbled in the 6th. Final scorecards were all unanimous with all three judges scoring the bout 60-54 for Pacheco.
Alexis Espino vs. Delvecchio Savage
Alexis Espino, another fighter from the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy, cruised to a unanimous decision victory over Delvecchio Savage.
The fight went the distance but Espino controlled the pace and action throughout the rounds. Savage was game but never landed any shots that seemed to hurt Espino. Final Scorecards read 60-54 and 59-55 X2 respectively.
Leo Ruiz Acevedo vs. Dennis Knifechief
Leo Acevedo improves on his undefeated record with a dominant knockout win over Dennis Knifechief. Knifeechief displayed heart and grit but Acevedo battered him from the opening bell. Acevedo improves his record to 7-0 with 4 KOs.
Jesse Rodriguez vs. Marcos Sustaita
Up and coming prospect, Jesse Rodriguez impressed yet again and this time his victim was Marcos Sustaita.
Rodriguez won virtually every round and in the 8th, landed a vicious hook that sent Sustaita to the ropes and a barrage of punches followed. The referee quickly put a halt to the action and Rodriguez improves to 11-0.
