Showtime Boxing aired their first ShoBox card of this year, highlighted by a Lightweight 10-round fight between Ivan Redkach (16-0, 13 KOs) and Tony Luis (17-2,  7 KOs).

Redkach, who had a considerable reach advantage, fought at a close distance with Luis. Redkach’s shots were more effective when he used his reach, but even at a close distance he was able to the land harder shots.

Redkach managed to score a knockdown in the first round, despite being knocked down himself. His glove touched the ground, but the referee did not see it and simply ruled it a slip.

Luis was very much alive throughout the entire fight. Redkach’s inability to fight from a distance allowed Luis to come in with quicker and shorter punches.

Nevertheless, Redkach was busier, and landed the stronger punches. He won via unanimous decision.

The televised bouts began with a Welterweight eight-round fight between undefeated fighters Maurice Hooker (12-0-2, KOs) and Abel Ramos (8-0, 4 KOs).

The fight was ruled a majority draw in what was a very close fight. Hooker was successful with his  boxing for most of the early rounds, but Ramos was also successful in closing the distance by the later ones.

It was the first eight-round fight for both fighters, and it seemed to have made a difference for Hooker, who looked as if he had tired himself out by the final rounds.

Antoine Douglas (12-0, 7 KOs) dominated Maurice Davis (8-1-2, 5 KOs) in a eight-round Middleweight bout. Douglas was a lot busier, landing solid power shots in all rounds.

Douglas never allowed Davis any room or time to counter, and was able to keep a busy pace for the entire fight.

Junior Middleweight Frank Galarza (12-0, 8 KOs) knocked out John Thompson (14-1, 5 KOs) in the second round of a scheduled eight-round bout. Thompson was previously undefeated, and boasted an impressive 111 amateur fights.

However, after a first-round feeling process, Galarza swung for the fences with an overhand right that wobbled Thompson. After seeing Thompson hurt, Galarza finished him with a vicious left hook that made Thompson double over onto the canvas.

Thompson was unable to recover and Galarza looked impressive in his first televised bout.
