This is hard for me. Being from around the Fort Washington area myself, my heart is with Thomas Williams Jr. My head however, says otherwise.

I do believe that it is possible for Williams Jr. to win, but after studying both fighters, I believe there are too many holes in “Top Dog’s” fighting style and defense that Adonis Stevenson will take advantage of.

If Williams can force Stevenson to exchange, he might have a chance. I just don’t see Stevenson allowing that to happen, which is why I think Adonis “Superman” Stevenson will win.

Prediction: Stevenson

Shelbi Keyes, Staff Writer

Adonis Stevenson (27-1, 22 KOs) and Thomas Williams Jr. (20-1, 14 KOs) will go toe-to-toe Friday night at the VIdeotron Theatre in Quebec City, Quebec. These two heavy hitters will be fighting for Stevenson’s WBC Light Heavyweight title.

Stevenson has won his last 14 fights and is coming off a September victory of Tommy Karpency. Even though Stevenson is approaching 39 years of age, he has established himself as one of the best Light heavyweights in the sport. Stevenson has great power and an impressive reach over a majority of his opponents.

Williams is coming off the biggest win of his career over Edwin Rodriguez–where he was a clear underdog. Williams has also won four of his last five fights by way of knockout.

While Williams will be coming into Friday nights fight as an underdog yet again–boxing fans must respect the fact that he has a decent resume and he is capable of yet another upset.

While an upset is never out of the question, Stevenson is the stronger puncher of the two and has the whole country of Canada behind him. This will be a tough fight, probably an all-out slugfest at times but–I am expecting the champ to keep his belt and walk away victorious.

As much as I would like Cherry Picker in Chief Adonis Stevenson’s lineal title reign to end, I don’t see Thomas Williams giving the guy much trouble.

Williams has a puncher’s chance, but he’s a brawler at heart, and he’ll need more than that to take the crown at 175.

He’s more talented than Stevenson’s recent opposition, but he’s still a very safe defense. Easy pick.

Prediction: Stevenson

Alex Burgos, Editor-in-Chief

Thomas “Top Dog” Williams is young, strong and confident as hell. In order for him to win, he has to lay it all on the line in the early going and force Adonis Stevenson to trade.

Luckily, that’s exactly what Williams specializes in–going for broke. Teddy Atlas always says “you have to go with what got you here,” or something of that nature, and that’s what I’d like to see from Williams. Williams should throw those home run shots because if he lands, it’ll be lights out for Stevenson.

A bit more defensive responsibility from Williams wouldn’t hurt, but who am I kidding, that’s not going to happen.

Someone is getting sparked in under six, and I think that at 38 years old, there is a good chance that Stevenson will get pounced on by the hungry dog.

Prediction: Williams
