This fight might end up being more excruciating than a root canal performed with some rusty pliers and a bottle of Jim Beam.
Lamont Peterson by decision. Long, painful, hideous, mind-numbing decision.

“King Pete” is a guy who is forever on the cusp. He beat Danny Garcia’s ass in his last fight, though somehow the judges saw fit to let Garcia walk away with the win, in what had to be the most frustrating loss of his career.
Lamont Peterson is a great fighter who does no one thing exceptionally, but almost everything well. Felix Diaz is his opponent, with whom Peterson has some familiarity with from their amateur days.
As a pro, Diaz is still quite green with only 17 fights under his belt, some soft touches on the resume, and a low knockout tally. I think this is a showcase to keep Peterson active, until he can land another big name opponent.
As long as he’s focused, Peterson should win this with little-to-no resistance. He’s fought almost any and everyone you can think of at 140 pounds, making his experience an unfair advantage.

Lamont Peterson said during fight week that he has sparred over 500 rounds for this fight. With that said, we know he’s not taking this fight lightly, but could he have over trained?
I think that as long as Peterson is sharp, active with his jab and doesn’t get off to a slow start, he’s too experienced for Felix Diaz at the pro level and will coast to victory.
