Mikey Garcia and Jessie Vargas will clash in a Welterweight blockbuster at Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas on Saturday February 29 live on DAZN in the US and on Sky Sports in the UK.

Former four-weight king Garcia (39-1 30 KOs) makes his debut on DAZN with new promoter Eddie Hearn in the same state of his last outing at AT&T Stadium in Arlington in March in a bid to win World honors at a fifth weight.

Garcia has now planted his flag in the ground at 147 lbs by taking on Vargas, and the popular Californian will aim to make a big statement as he fights in Texas for the 10th time in an already glittering career.

Kal Yafai vs. Chocolatito Gonzalez

R.L. Woodson, Contributing Writer

Roman Gonzalez’s down time–just two fights total for 2018-2019–allows him to return to champion status versus a tough challenge in Kal Yafai.

Yafai doesn’t possess the type of power that makes Gonzalez’s age and mileage a concern. Gonzalez returns to form and takes advantage of the opportunity to remind the world of his greatness.

Gonzalez by split decision.

Roman Gonzalez is past his prime. Kal Yafai will win.

Prediction: Yafai by Decision

Alex Burgos, Editor-in-Chief

I like Roman Gonzalez to show some of his old magic and outwork Kal Yafai to snatch another title.

Prediction: Gonzalez by Decision

Mikey Garcia vs. Jessie Vargas

R.L. Woodson, Contributing Writer

Both of these guys have been all up and down the scale. Remaining at Welterweight, Garcia’s still north of his best division but Vargas hasn’t proven he’s elite at 147 pounds.

Vargas size advantage and boxing will keep the fight competitive, but Garcia will figure out the right mix of boxing skills to win by decision.

Prediction: Garcia by Decision

Jessie Vargas will upset Mikey Garcia by decision.

Prediction: Vargas by Decision

Alex Burgos, Editor-in-Chief

I hate Mikey Garcia at 147, and I can definitely see Jessie Vargas making it a tough fight, but Garcia should be able to get by him.

I think it may be ugly enough to convince Garcia to move back down to 140.

Prediction: Garcia by Decision
