Two heavyweight forces are set to collide this Tuesday as Premier Boxing Champions‘ Toe to Toe Tuesday on Fox Sports 1 makes its way to Shelton, Washington.

This main event matchup between Amir Mansour (22-1, 16 KOs) and Gerald Washington (16-0 11 KOs) has all the makings to be highly explosive as both fighters are powerful punchers with a nearly identical 69 and 70 knockout percentage.

The heavyweight division has clearly been on a decline in American boxing as the Super Welterweights have been ruling the sport for some time now.

After speaking with Washington this week he assured me the heavyweight division is back on the rise and boxing fans will not be let down this Tuesday.

“This is the type of fight that America wants to see, that the whole world wants to see; they want to see exciting match ups. They want to see people fighting that you don’t know who is going to win. People don’t know what’s going to happen and that’s the kind of matchups we need. We want exciting matchups and I am excited to be apart of the resurgence of heavyweights and the exciting knockouts that are here to come in the future.”

Washington holds the height and reach advantage for this fight, standing at 6’6” with an 82 inch reach, while Mansour is 6’1” with a 74 inch reach. At 33 years of age, Washington is still the younger opponent as Mansour is 43 years old. Although Washington favors in size and age, this will be his first time scheduled for a 10-round fight and Mansour believes his experience will reign supreme.

“Gerald Washington has not even come close to fighting someone of my caliber. He has zero advantage except for height, and I’m experienced enough to take that away,” said Mansour to Premier Boxing Champions.

A lot is at stake as Washington and Mansour are both highly ranked within the American heavyweight division and the winner could likely go on to fight in very high paying fight or possibly even a title shot. Washington knows what is at stake for him in this fight, but still remains highly focused on defeating Mansour.

“I don’t want to say what is next, I want to focus on beating Mansour first. This is going to open up a lot of doors. Beating this guy is going to put us on a new level because we have proven ourselves against the best. He has proven himself already, I need a big fight to put me in line and this is the fight to do it. So, who knows what could be next.”

Washington explains that he is looking to take full advantage of this opportunity and wants the viewers that watch Tuesday night and the rest of the heavyweight fighters to see that he is a true force to be reckoned with in the heavyweight division.

“I look forward to this fight and showing all my skills and talents because it is going to set the stage for much more to come. So, no more ‘Mr. Nice Guy,’ I am coming to get you out of there.”

Tuesday night as Mansour and Washington go toe to toe, will the two fighters deliver the powerful performance as hoped? Will the winner get a shot at a title? Let us know what you think.
