On Saturday, February 2, 2019, Sergey Kovalev did something not many people (including myself) believed he could do–he proved that he still has plenty left in the tank by boxing masterfully against Eleider Alvarez and retained the WBO title he lost last August via knockout.
This isn’t the way things normally go for the bully, but Kovalev showed that he’s cut from a cloth that only a few hall-of-famers like George Foreman and Roberto Duran are.
After his victory over Alvarez, Kovalev stated that he’s here to make history and wants to fight the other champions in his division.
