On Saturday, September 16, 2017, Canelo Alvarez takes on Gennady Golovkin in a highly-anticipated matchup that should crown one of, if not the best Middleweight in the world.

When the fight was first announced back in May, it was assumed that it would be contested for Canelo’s Ring Magazine and Lineal titles, as well as Golovkin’s WBC, IBO, IBF and WBA titles.

But today, it was announced that the WBC strap will not be on the line, with Canelo’s Ring Magazine and Lineal championships on the line alongside Golovkin’s WBA and IBF championships.

“I am very proud to be fighting for these important titles in this fight,” said Canelo. “This will be the best boxing event of the year, and I know all of the fans from Mexico and beyond will come out and enjoy the fight as I defend my Lineal and Ring Magazine titles, and take home the WBA and IBF championships.”
