Overview

Manny Pacquiao has 62 wins, 7 losses, 2 draws and 39 knockouts. No small feat for a 40-year-old.

This humble boxing legend is the current Welterweight champion after defeating Keith Thurman in July 2019. Despite Thurman being much younger and faster, he was no match Pacquiao’s heavy unforgiving fists.

Many wonder what next for Pacquiao. Is retirement on the horizon? Does he still have the strength and energy to continue? Can he take on younger boxing champs?

Owning 2019 – Manny Pacquiao versus Keith Thurman

Considered by many to be the best boxing match of the year, Manny Pacquiao versus Keith Thurman was a true showdown from the first round all the way to end.

Many people doubted that Pacquiao could take on the challenge and come out on top. He appeared to be full of energy and alert even in the 12th round.

At the end of fight night July 20, Pacquiao entered the history books yet again as the oldest Welterweight champ.

2020

With 2020 around the corner, here are some possibilities for Manny Pacquiao.

Floyd Mayweather

In 2015, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather took the MGM Grand ring and gave the world the Fight of the Century. It was an unforgettable fight that millions of fans came out to watch. Mayweather emerged the winner (116-112, twice, 118-110) unanimously.

Even though Manny Pacquiao went on to win other major matches, he has always wanted a rematch with Mayweather. At the moment, Mayweather, 42, has no intentions of refighting but anything is possible in boxing.

In one night, Mayweather made about $180 million out of the $300 million that was split.

Regardless, a Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather II would not only make them a lot richer in 2020, but it would also bring out a lot more fans than it did in 2015.

A spectacular fight like this would also spark a lot of betting online with reputable websites such as Novibet. You can try your luck on the betting sites with small matches and small investments to get a feel for it before going big.

Errol Spence Jr.

Spence, 29, is a PBC star looking to make a name for himself among the boxing elites, which he is by all means. He has over 80% knockout to win ratio. In September 2019, Spence took on Shawn Porter for the titles of IBF and WBC and won.

A Spence versus Pacquiao fight would allow Spence to win a new title. Spence is possibly the best opponent to contend in 2020. For Pacquiao, it would be like fighting his younger self. Spence is exactly where Pacquiao was at his age.

Retirement

Even though this is unlikely, Pacquiao could choose to hang his gloves and go into retirement. He has a promising career in his home country and has made enough money and name to retire comfortably.

Summary

2020 would be an interesting boxing year for Pacquiao. He could either keep pushing to get more titles or go into retirement. Whichever way it goes, Pacquiao has enjoyed a successful career.
