Nine times out of 10, when you meet or talk to people that you see on television or are popular figures in boxing, it’s a let down.

Sara Beverley is that one exception.

Not only is she one of hottest ring girls in the sport, but she also matches her beauty with a solid knowledge of the sweet science. How can you not love that?

A Matchroom Boxing ring girl for almost two years now, Sara can be seen strutting her stuff at all the major fights.

If you’re lucky enough to see her, you should definitely talk boxing–and probably take a selfie with her too.

Read on for our interview with Ms. Beverley as she lets us in on her favorite fighters, what it was like to work the Carl Froch vs. George Groves rematch and the nastiest thing a boxing fan has ever said to her!

Round By Round Boxing: Hi Sara, thanks for taking the time out to talk with us. So, how long have you been working as ring card girl and how did you get your start?

Sara Beverley: I’ve done ring card for a few years for MMA, so that built up my experience, but I joined the Matchroom Boxing team 18 months ago. I was working for a mutual friend of Eddie Hearn at the time and our paths crossed.

RBRBoxing: You worked as a ring girl during the record breaking Froch vs. Groves 2 fight, describe that experience.

SB: It was unbelievable, especially to be a part of British boxing history. I’ll never forget the atmosphere and the ring walks, I was in awe.

I thought I would be more nervous, but because it was such a huge crowd I couldn’t focus on individual faces, I just took in the atmosphere and enjoyed every moment of standing in front of 80,000 boxing fans.

But, I had no doubts that Carl Froch would win, I even predicted the eight round.

RBRBoxing: Wow! So you were spot on with your prediction. What’s your favorite part about being a Ring Card girl?

SB: I love boxing so the best part is sitting ringside and following each fight and the fighter’s careers. It becomes a boxing family and we see everyone as friends, so it’s such a pleasure to be able to see each boxers journey and how they progress, especially when there is British or world titles on the line.

I get to see what it means to them and I enjoy talking about the fights with each fighter, official and trainer before and after. Boxing is a debatable sport and I love a debate. I’ve also become quite accurate in my predictions as I’m learning and following each fighter.

RBRBoxing: So we just have to come to you for our picks before every major fight! The boxing crowds and events in England are known for being more electric compared to those in the states. What’s been the most outrageous thing a boxing fan has ever said to you at a fight?

SB: [Laughing] I’m not sure I can say it! We get a lot of inappropriate comments, but they are in jest, some have included “get your rat out.” A lot of the fans want a reaction so if you give them one they love it. I usually give a look, wink or cheekily stick my tongue out if I can see the person who’s said it.

Majority of the crowd are lovely though and just want a selfie or picture with me and Hannah Elizabeth (the other ring card girl).

RBRBoxing: Would you say you’re a boxing fan?

I’m a HUGE boxing fan! My favorite films growing up were Rocky and I have the full anthology on box set. This job just heightened my passion which was already there. I loved the heavyweight division and used to watch Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis growing up with my Dad.

Currently Anthony Joshua MBE (Olympic gold medalist) has me excited once again for this division. He’s a huge talent to watch and also as a brand he will be global!

RBRBoxing: Do you have a favorite fighter?

SB: I have so many favorite fighters in different divisions, eras and for different reasons. My all-time favorites are of course [Muhammad] Ali and Lennox Lewis. I’m a fan of Carl Froch for his sheer determination!

The USA need to keep a watch on Callum Smith who’s one of the four boxing brothers from Liverpool. The Super Middleweight division is on fire as it is, but he will make things even more interesting. He’s fighting on undercard for Shawn Porter vs. Kell Brook, as is Luke Campbell MBE, two great talents.

I believe now is Kell Brooks time as well, he’s more than ready and after witnessing his recent KOs (especially the Vyacheslav Senchenko win) I think he can do it. Porter is a tough opponent though. [Paulie] Malignaggi is an absolute entertainer and I’ve got to give praise to fellow Mancunian, Ricky Hatton too.

But, I could be here all day there’s too many to mention!

RBRBoxing: Would you ever want to work as a ring card girl in the U.S.?

SB: I would LOVE to work in the U.S.! Starting with the Porter vs Brook fight [laughs]. I find Americans so friendly, especially when they have come over to the UK. So I would love to be a part of a boxing show in America and compare the British and American fans.

Hopefully I will get to attend a boxing fight in the U.S. whether I’m working or not.

RBRBoxing: That’s awesome! I’m sure I speak for boxing fans in the states, we’d love to have you! So, what are some things you want to do professionally that you still haven’t accomplished?

SB: I studied media/acting and presenting at University. I will always carry a passion for acting, but it’s such a tough industry to get into. I would love to incorporate my presenting into the sports industry. Sports has played such a huge part in my life recently and I love talking about it. Sports journalism may be another option when I hang up my ring girl outfit.

RBRBoxing: Where can people check you out? (Website, Social Media, Etc.)

SB: Please check me out on Instagram and Twitter @SaraBeverley

RBRBoxing: And now the most important question… Are you a Man United or City fan?

SB: I’m a Manchester United fan through and through! We’ve had a bad year but we will be back! I have a couple of friends who play for the team so it’s only right I support them too.
