On Saturday, February 6th in Hermosillo, Sonora, Rising Star Promotions returned with French based Welterweight Yurik “DBSBC” Mamedov (13-1 5ko) capturing the vacant WBA Federcentro Welterweight Championship via 3rd round stoppage over grizzly Jose Espinoza Jaramillo of Guadalajara, Jalisco (13-3 8ko).
Mamedov pressed the action early, backing up Jaramillo with heavy stiff jabs following up with viscous body attacks. Jaramillo never had any success keeping the pressure of Mamedov, who calls himself “Pride of the Yazidi’s”. The corner of Jaramillo saw enough, throwing the white towel mid way through round 3.
Mamedov quoted “I am a bad man, I apply smart pressure and when I smell fear, I go in for the kill. It is in my blood, to fight for what I love. This win is for all of my Yazidi people. I love you all, and we will keep fighting!
Mamedov now holds the WBA Federcentro Championship at Welterweight along with the WBA Fedecaribe Championship at Jr. Welterweight.
In the Co-Feature Brad Solomon (29-3 9ko), now residing out of Las Vegas, NV scored a hard fought, but one sided Unanimous decision over Lisandro De Los Santos (25-22-1 11ko) of Agua Prieta, Sonora.
Solomon controlled the entire fight with his awkward style, keeping the much shorter De Los Santos away, giving him no steady target. De Los Santos had some moments throughout the fight, scoring clean punches while Solomon was on the ropes, but not enough to make any changes in the bout.
With the win, Solomon broke his only two fight loosing streak, suffering those defeats to Alexis Rocha and fast rising Contender Vergil Ortiz Jr.
Rising Star Promotions returns this Friday, February 12th in Agua Prieta, Sonora with Undefeated Welterweight Prospect Peter Dobson (11-0 7ko) of the Bronx, NY taking on Carlos Jacabo in the 6 round Main Event, Which can be seen live on La Terraza Sports Bar Facebook page.
