Undefeated WBC Welterweight champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) will host a Philadelphia press conference tomorrow to announce his Saturday, November 12 non-title fight against Colombia’s Samuel Vargas (25-2-1, 13 KOs).
The bout will headline another soft-served showcase for Garcia via Premier Boxing Champions on Spike from Temple University’s Liacouras Center in Philadelphia.
According to today’s PBC press release, Garcia’s fight against Vargas is the final hurdle before his highly anticipated welterweight world title unification showdown against undefeated champion Keith Thurman, which is planned for the first quarter of 2017.
Thurman is eager to get in the ring with Garcia, and wasted no time blasting Garcia’s choice via Twitter.
Enjoy your last cherry of the year … I’ll be waiting to take that green belt in 2017! #OneTime #KOs4Life #2Belts pic.twitter.com/fbC8RN7y47

Undefeated contender, Errol Spence also took to Twitter to air out Garcia’s choice of a fighter he’s already handled easily.
Danny say I have to pay my dues but he fighting somebody I knocked out already 🙄

It’ll be interesting to see if Thurman gets in the ring once more before his potential fight with Garcia.
Thurman has only fought once this year–a June victory over fellow top Welteweight, Shawn Porter.
Garcia will be getting in the ring for the second time this year when he takes on Vargas. Garcia defeated former Thurman victim, Robert Guerrero, via decision in January.
If Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman face off in 2017, who wins?
