On Friday, December 2, 2016, Abraham Lopez returned to the ring in a 10-round Featherweight fight against Sergio Lopez to defend his NABA on the latest edition of Golden Boy Boxing‘s LA Fight Club at the Belasco Theater in Downtown, Los Angeles.
The fight headlined a three-fight Spanish telecast on Estrella TV, while RingTV.com streamed the entire card.

Abraham Lopez vs. Sergio Lopez, 10 rounds, Featherweights
Abraham Lopez scored a 10-round unanimous decision victory against Sergio Lopez.
Oscar Negrete vs. Raul Hidalgo, 8 rounds, Bantamweights Negrete scored a TKO victory at 2:49 of Round 4.
Edgar Valerio vs. Guadalupe De Leon, 6 rounds, Featherweights Valerio scored a sixth-round TKO stoppage against De Leon. Though tagged by quick hooks throughout the fight, Valerio dominated De Leon, scoring knockdowns in Round 3 and 6, the latter of which forced the stoppage.
Niko Valdes vs. Will Williams, 4 rounds, Super Middleweights
Valdes scored a first-round TKO.
“The stoppage was going to happen, it was only a matter of when,” said Valdez.
“I was expecting my opponent to be on the weaker side since he had trouble making weight, and all I had to do was use my skills to know when to attack and put him against the ropes.”
Jousce Gonzalez vs. Jordan Alvarado, 4 rounds, junior lightweights
Gonzalez scored two knockdowns en route to a second-round TKO.
“I’m overjoyed by the result, and this sets the tone for my career” said Gonzalez.
“But this is only the beginning. I have a long road ahead of me, and I can’t wait to hit the gym to train hard.”
Francisco Esparza vs. Gerardo Molina, 4 rounds, Featherweights
Esparza won via second-round KO, though he was still standing.
“When a former world champion [Fernando Vargas] is your trainer, you get results like these,” said Esparza.
“Vargas pushes the best out of me, in and out of the ring. I knew I just had to be patient in the ring. When I landed that right hand, and I saw that I hurt him, and my intuition told me to unleash on him.”
Todd Unthank-May vs. Daniel Najera, 6 rounds, Cruiserweights
Unthank-May knocked out Najera in Round 1.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to get a knock out,” said May.
“I knew if I was patient, I would be able to get the result that I wanted, I just had to break him down. I’m excited to maintain this momentum through 2017.”
