Amir Khan Is In It For Respect

The Independent is worth a look given that they’ve previewed the fight from a British perspective, and one would assume the bulk of the UK is behind Amir Khan on Saturday.
They make an interesting point that Khan has garnered a lot of respect just for taking the fight, which is a different take than, say, Bleacher Report’s, which effectively ridiculed the British fighter.
The Independent’s preview also included some interesting quotes from Khan in which he acknowledged (half-jokingly, we assume) that he’ll probably hit Canelo Alvarez and Canelo won’t feel it, but that skill would win out.
It sounds like the British perspective acknowledges that this is a steep uphill battle, but that it may do Khan’s reputation some good regardless. While a lot of us are expecting a lopsided fight, there’s clearly a lot of intrigue heading into Saturday.
Here’s hoping it’s competitive and we fans get what we want!
