Francisco “Bandido” Vargas won WBC Fight Of The year, 12 months ago for his titanic TKO of formidable Takashi Miura…and now he’s won the award all over again!
The defence of his hard won WBC super featherweight crown against fellow Mexican Orlando “Siri” Salido, ending in a draw, has won the Tecate Fight Of The Year Award.
Francisco, who was again, the choice of fight fans, is the first fighter to ever win this prestigious award, back to back.
Whenever Mexicans box, it turns out to be a ring war, brawl and a fantastic fight, all rolled into one.
The two who are good friends outside business hours, held each other’s right arm aloft sharing the trophy, at the WBC’s 54th Convention, in Hollywood, Florida.
This humdinger of a contest, was so brilliantly intense, it even beat out the brilliant encounter between Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez and Carlos Cuadras!
Might a rematch with either Orlando or Takashi in the coming year, secure Francisco the treble?
