On Saturday, April 21, 2018, Jermall Charlo took on Hugo Centeno Jr. in the co-main event of a card headlined by Adrien Broner and Jessie Vargas.

The Middleweight clash, which was fought for the interim WBC Middleweight title, saw Centeno moving and flicking his jab in Round 1 as he tried to keep the oncoming Charlo at a distance.

Centeno avoided danger in Round 1, but things went south quickly in the second as Centeno stayed on the inside with Charlo and began trading power shots.

Charlo blasted Centeno with heavy shots, including a short left which turned the lights out for the Oxnard native.

Centeno made an effort to move, but could not get up before everyone’s favorite referee, Steve Willis reached the count of 10.

The fight wrapped up at the 55 second mark in Round 2.

Charlo is now the mandatory challenger for Gennady Golovkin‘s WBC strap and after the bout the Houston native confirmed he wants that fight.

“It’s been an amazing journey to get here. I’m a two-time world champion. Bring on Triple G! I want that fight,” said Charlo.

Joined in the ring by his twin brother–the 154-pound WBC champion, Jermell–Jermall was excited by his knockout victory and now seems poised to make some major noise at 160 pounds.

As far as a potential fight with Golovkin, Charlo feels the particulars can be figured out behind the scenes with his manager, Al Haymon.

“The networks and the teams can figure out how to get the Triple G fight done. I have the best manager in the world. I’m 27-0 with 21 knockouts. Everybody sees it,” said Charlo. “Everybody has always avoided me and from now on, this is how it’s going to be. You see what you get.”
