Brooklyn’s Teofimo Lopez (9-0, 7 KOs) knocked out Vitor Freitas (13-2, 7 KOs) in one round on the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Jorge Linares Undercard at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The official time of the stoppage was 1:04 of the first round of a scheduled eight round bout.

Fighting in front of friends and family, the 20-year-old Lopez hardly broke a sweat by landing a huge right hand sending the Brazilian Freitas to the canvas. Freitas tried to beat the count but was unable to.

A replay showed the punch may have just grazed the back of Freitas’ head but he was unable to continue nonetheless.

Lopez, who represented his parents’ birth country of Honduras at the 2016 Olympic games in Rio, is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Juan Pablo Sanchez in Corpus Christi this past February.
