The Heavyweight division officially has a major player to worry about.

Adam Kownacki (19-0, 15 KOs) made a huge statement tonight in defeating one time title challenger Gerald Washington (19-3-1, 12 KOs) tonight by second round stoppage. The undefeated Kownacki and huge fan favorite wasted little time in jumping all over Washington.

From the very opening bell Kownacki seemed determined to make it a short nights work. He blasted Washington with hard shots all round long and seemed to have him in serious trouble. Washington managed to get through the round, but it seemed as though it was only a matter of time before Kownacki found the right shot to put him down.

The second round however was a completely different story, at least for the early parts of it. Washington came out throwing fast and hard landing bombs on Kownacki. It seemed as though Washington was stealing away the momentum. Washington’s moments of success did not last long.

Kownacki managed to whether the storm and start to let his hands go once again. The undefeated contender had his man in serious trouble in the round. Washington did his best to hold on but could not withstand the none ending shots that were coming from his opponent as he finally hit the deck.

Washington barely managed to beat the 10 count and looked completely out of it. Kownacki jumped all over him and landed numerous shots to the head which forced the referee to step in and end the contest.

“I trained hard for this fight,” said Kownacki after the fight. “I prepared for 10 hard rounds, but I’m glad I got it done and ended it as fast as I did.”

The love Kownacki receives from the crowd is almost like no other other. He was grateful to all the fans that came out to support.

“It’s amazing to have this support from the Polish fans,” said Kownacki. “It definitely gives me extra energy.”

Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are the best in the Heavyweight division. Adam Kownacki, however is forcing them all to pay attention to him now.
