On Showtime Extreme’s televised coverage of the undercard of Degale-Bute, Adrian Granados (17-4-2, 12 KOs) scored an upset knockout victory against Amir Imam (18-1, 15 KOs) at the Videotron Center in Quebec City, Canada.

Imam was previously the number 1 contender to Viktor Postol’s 140-pound WBC strap, but his title shot evaporated with a stunning loss tonight.

In Round 1, Imam started off very well by thunderously knocking Granados down before landing a serious of combinations.

However, Granados’ activity and will to win eventually wore Imam down, as Granados pushed the action and forced Imam to work on the inside.

Imam tried to regain control of the fight, but could never find his jab again in the later rounds. Every time Imam looked for distance, Granados was in his chest and outpunching Imam at a three-to-one ratio.

In Round 8, Granados finally wore Imam down and forced referee Alain Villeneuve to stop the fight.

In the first televised fight, Oscar Rivas scored a second round knockout against Joey Abell in a scheduled ten-round Heavyweight fight.
