Top Rank, has signed 20-year-old sensation, Josue “The Prodigy” Vargas of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico who now resides in the Bronx, NY.
Vargas is one of the hottest prospects in the sport of boxing. With an amateur record of 72-8, and having defeated the likes of Shakur Stevenson and Richardson Hitchins, Vargas has lots of experience that many 20 year olds don’t have.
At only 17, he turned pro, and shortly after he signed a professional contract with Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s Mayweather Promotions. Eventually, the relationship between his manager–Mayweather Jr.–and Mayweather Promotions was short lived due to many indifferences.
Vargas has a professional record of 11-1, 7 KOs and a wealth of boxing experience, such as sparring with his mentor Floyd Mayweather Jr., Gervonta Davis and many other World Champions.
Vargas has built a strong resume in front of a Puerto Rican fan base in New York. Vargas, a southpaw who fights in the Lightweight and Super Lightweight divisions, is someone to look out for.
Vargas is expected to make his Top Rank debut on the upcoming Vasiliy Lomachenko-Jose Pedraza Lightweight championship card set for December 8, in New York City at Madison Square Garden.
