Hate him or love him, Al Haymon is making some serious moves that could be great for the future of boxing.

First he pays out of pocket for primetime television spots on NBC and NBC Sports for his new boxing venture, Premier Boxing Champions.

Now sources close to FightHype.com confirm that Spike TV will be adding boxing to their regular programming lineup that will feature many of Haymon’s contracted fighters.

A news conference will be held later this week to make an official announcement. It’s expected that the first card will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 and will feature Andre Berto vs. Josesito Lopez, along with former IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter taking on Roberto Garcia.

Other details of the programming such as blow-by-blow commentators have yet to be released, but possibly could be at this weeks conference.

Spike TV is known as a network that appeals to male audiences and has had success featuring UFC cards in the past.

There’s no denying the positive affect a move like this could have on boxing moving forward. Also, if these cards continue to air on Friday nights, it doesn’t hurt to have another night of the week featuring fights with top level names from the Haymon stable.
