Alan Sanchez (15-3-1, 8 KOs) scored a unanimous decision victory over Ed Paredes (35-5-1, 23 KOs) at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego, California.
The 10-round Light Middleweight fight was the main event of a card presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Fox Sports 1.
Sanchez, 23, of Fairfield, California, had previously lost to Luis Collazo as a Welterweight in 2013 before scoring a two-fight winning streak en route to tonight’s fight.
Sanchez used the ring quite a bit and unleashed his jab before landing right hands to the body and to the head.
Paredes, 29, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, had also previously lost to better fighters in his division such as Alfonso Gomez and Carlos Molina
Paredes would lose again tonight as he was knocked down in the final round before losing by unanimous decision.
Sanchez won with scores of 98-91, 98-91, and 97-92.

In the co-main event, Australian-born Will Tomlinson (23-1-1, 13 KOs) scored an eighth-round TKO victory over Miguel Zamudio.
Despite having a reach and height disadvantage, Tomlinson, 28, landed quick right hands and left hooks on Zamudio, who could not do much to stop Tomlinson’s speed from getting the best of him.
Zamudio (31-6-1, 18 KOs) was thoroughly outclassed before finally being stopped by a flurry by Thomlinson.
In the first televised bout, Elias Espadas (6-1, 3 KOs) won a close majority decision win over Carlos Lopez (5-1-1, 3 KOs).
The six-round fight was closer than the cards suggest, with the judges scoring the fight 60-54 and 58-56, while one judge scored the fight a draw.
