On Saturday, March 4, 2017, Danny Garcia took his first loss as a professional at the hands of Keith Thurman in front of a record breaking crowd of 16,533 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Garcia was gracious in defeat, and although he felt he did enough to win, he didn’t talk bad about Thurman in the slightest.

Garcia’s father, Angel, on the other hand took the loss poorly and was not in the mood to give “One Time” any credit.

“You can’t win a fight running, bro… He ran from the sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th, 11th, 12th,” said Angel Garcia.

“I’m disgusted with boxing right now. I want Danny to retire tonight,” said Angel Garcia.

But, perhaps Danny said it best when he told reporters what he told his father after the loss.

“When you’re a true champion you have to take your defeats like your wins,” said Danny Garcia.
