LAS VEGAS – June 5, 2019 – Unbeaten 122-pound rising prospect Angelo “El Chinito” Leo (17-0, 8 KOs) makes his return in a 10-round attraction vs. Filipino-born Mark “The Journey Man” John Yap (30-13, 15 KOs) that will headline another installment of Mayweather Promotions’ Sin City Showdown on Friday June 28th from Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas.
Leo is coming off of a recent unanimous decision victory over tough Filipino competitor, Neil John Tabanao, as they headlined Shobox: The New Generation on April 5, 2019.
The co-main action will feature emerging prospect Xavier Martinez (14-0, 10 KOs) fighting out of Sacramento, CA facing off against Filipino Jessie “Jimdomar” Cris Rosales (22-2-1, 10 KOs). This Sin City Showdown card will also feature Cameron “Suave” Krael (16-13-3, 3 KOs), Andres “Savage” Cortes (11-0, 6 KOs), Kevin “Second Coming” Newman (9-1-1, 5 KOs), Maurice “Ambitious” Lee (10-1-2, 5 KOs), KingDamon “Don’t Blink” Antoine (9-0, 7 KOs), and Mekhrubon Sanginov (7-0, 5 KOs) all in separate bouts.
The Sin City Showdown action will be streamed on Mayweather Promotions Facebook beginning at 5p.m. PT/8p.m. ET.

25-year-old Angelo Leo (17-0, 8 KOs), Angelo “El Chinito” Leo was born on May 15, 1994 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He relates his childhood to a rollercoaster, with many ups and downs. His mom battled with alcohol and drug addiction, which resulted in his dad gaining full custody of him. This separated him from his younger brother at a young age, and their relationship suffered as a result. Leo was introduced to the sweet science when he was eight by his father and current trainer, Miguel Leo. Growing up with a rough childhood inspired the then 8-year-old Leo to begin his boxing journey, and soon went on to become a championed amateur fighter. His notable amateur resume includes winning the state Golden Gloves and Jr. Golden Gloves Championships before making the decision to turn pro at the age of 18, and was 10-0 when he joined the Mayweather Promotions’ stable. He made his Mayweather Promotions debut in November of 2017 with a fourth-round knockout of Dominican Republic’s Yasmaly Basilio Peguero-Nieves. This hard-hitting prospect is known for landing vicious body shots to punish his opponents. Leo carries a champion mindset every time he enters the ring as he looks to make his stance in the super bantamweight division.
“I’m really anxious to get back in the ring this summer and show all my fans what I’ve improved on since my last fight,” shares Leo. “My preparation is the same for the most part. I’ve added a little more strength and conditioning to this camp and have been working on correcting the mistakes I made from my last fight in April.”
Yap, who made his pro debut in 2007 a day before his 18th birthday, obtained the OPBF Bantamweight title in 2016 when defeating Takahiro Yamamoto by 5th round TKO and since then has successfully defended the title twice. He will be getting one step closer in his journey to a world title shot in the states when he meets rising prospect Leo. Hailing from Misamis Oriental in the Philippines, Yap, who is ranked #9 Super Bantamweight by the WBC and top 10 in the IBF, is looking to make an impressive U.S. debut on June 28th. Yap holds a strong will to win with a power that is under-rated due to his record, but his solid skills and high-level training have prepared him to continue his journey of earning a world title opportunity.
“I feel that my opponent should not underestimate me because of my record.” shares Yap. “I am prepared and ready to make my U.S. debut for my fellow Filipinos that live in the states and will come out victorious on fight night.”
Sacramento native, Xavier Martinez (14-0, 10 KOs) is known for his electrifying power and slick combinations when he steps in the ring. Martinez was introduced to the sport at the young age of 6. The first day at the gym Martinez learned the basics of boxing and from then on boxing became his focus. Boxing calmed him down a lot, in regards to getting with kids in the neighborhood and at school. He also noticed that he was more focused and improving in school. Martinez began his amateur career in Sacramento in 2006, and it did not get off to a good start, having suffered losses in his first two matches. This didn’t deter him from his willingness to continue competing. He finished his amateur career with a record of 85-10, and turned pro at 17. Martinez looks to make his 2nd ring appearance of 2019 when he takes on Jessie Cris Rosales on June 28th at Sam’s Town Live. He’s on a roll with six straight knockout victories, with the most recent coming in a third-round TKO victory over Filipino John Moralde. Lookout for this must-watch prospect on his road to becoming top contender status.
“I’m excited to be back in the ring on June 28th. It gives me a chance to stay active and get closer to becoming a world champion,” said Martinez. “There won’t much of a difference this training camp. The only thing different is I want to push myself this camp in sparring by going to 15 rounds. I feel like if I prepare myself for more than 10-12 rounds so that if I have to go the distance it won’t be a problem.”
Fighting out of Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines, 27-year-old Rosales will be returning to fight in the U.S. for the second time in his career to face the unbeaten Martinez. He is coming off a recent loss to Shakur Stevenson on January 18, 2019 in Verona, New York. In the trajectory of his professional career, Rosales has been faced with some of the divisions’ top fighters, including former two-division world champion Jhonny Gonzalez who he competed against in 2017 for the WBC Latin Super Featherweight title. He’s looking to bounce back from his recent setback and prove that he has what it takes to withstand the elite class of fighters in his division
