On a special Father’s Day edition of PBC on CBS, Rances Barthelemy (23-0, 13 KOs) jumped up 10 pounds in weight to score a 10-round UD win over former Lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (31-5-1, 23 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It was only two fights ago that Barthelmy defended his IBF 130-pound title, but he is now campaigning as a full-fledged Junior Welterweight.
Barthelemy used his reach and height advantages to keep DeMarco away before landing right hands from the outside.
Barthelemy’s habit of switching from orthodox to southpaw allowed him to set up a left hand that dropped DeMarco in Round 4.
“I worked very hard with my trainer to prepare for this fight and that preparation helped me catch DeMarco in the fourth round and I dropped him,” said Barthelemy.
Barthelemy continued dominating DeMarco for the rest of the 10-rounder, though he was deducted a point for a low blow in Round 9.
All three judges scored the fight 99-89 for Barthelemy.
“I want Omar Figueroa next. It would be like a modern day version of Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo,” Barthelemy concluded.

In the co-main event, Sammy Vasquez (19-0, 13 KOs) scored a 10-round unanimous decision victory for the hard-hitting Wale Omotoso (25-2, 21 KOs).
“My objective was just to box him, move around and not let him hit me because I know he has the power that his record shows,” said Vasquez, who began the fight by throwing fast combinations to the body and head of Omotoso.
Vasquez continued dominating Omotoso and even seemed to hurt him in Round 9.
“I knew I had him hurt in the ninth when I connected on a solid body shot,” said Vasquez, who won with three scores of 98-92.
“I don’t have a specific opponent in mind and I don’t want to call anyone out,” said Vasquez about his next step.
“Beating Wale was great, but we’ll go back to the drawing board and consider who’s out there for me,” he concluded.
