#MayPac watch is getting more interesting as the fight date gets closer. We’re closing in on 16 days and there is no mention of ticket sales for the fight itself.
However, details for the fight’s weigh in have emerged. Per ESPN‘s Dan Rafael, tickets will be sold through the regular MGM Grand ticket outlets for $10 each. These assigned seats have been approved by the Nevada State Athletic Commission to help with crowd control for an event of this magnitude. This will also help reduce fans from camping out at the venue and diminish any pandemonium.
All proceeds from the weigh in tickets will be donated to the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. With a branch in Las Vegas, this clinic is well known for conducting extensive studies on the brain health of boxers. No word as to when these tickets will be available for purchase.
According to ESPN’s Dan Rafael, Middleweight champion Miguel Cotto will defend his title for the first time against Daniel Geale on June 6 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
It has almost been a year since Cotto stepped in the ring as a middleweight to defeat Sergio Martinez and now he will face Geale at a catch weight of 157 pounds. Perhaps what is the most exciting news about this fight matchup is the announcement of what’s to come.
For a long time, fight fans have wanted to see Cotto step in the ring with Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez. ESPN is reporting that the deal is done for Cotto to face Alvarez in September if both are successful in their next bouts. This bout could have happened before, but problems rose with Cotto and Top Rank Promotions. Shortly after that Cotto left Top Rank and signed with Roc Nation Sports for a three fight contract.
Speaking of more great fight announcements to come, an undisclosed source has has stated that a matchup between Keith “One Time” Thurman and Shawn “Showtime” Porter is a done deal.
Now the rumors can be laid to rest of Porter facing Timothy Bradley. Although no details and announcements have been released yet, we should see these two in the ring on June 20 at Barclays.

There’s no need to tip-toe around the subject–well maybe it would be best–of Demarcus Corley and his problems that arose during training camp earlier this week. Under legal obligation, Corley cannot explain what caused the gruesome blisters on the bottom of both his feet.
While Corley is set to face Manuel Perez on May 16 for the WBF lightweight title, the images he posted under Facebook leave one to believe that this bout will be called off.
“You’re gonna have to amputate my feet for me to pull out of this fight,” said Corley during an interview. But he later revealed to Death Row Combat’s podcast on BlogTalkRadio.com that he has paused his road work, and is basically staying off his feet until the top layer of skin heals.
