House of Athlete Chief Creative Officer Michi Marshall Designs Elegant Ringwear For Johnson’s Fight on theMayweather vs. Paul PPV Undercard
MIAMI – (May 27, 2021) – Former NFL star Brandon Marshall’s House of Athlete (HOA) will show their full support and sponsor former NFL star wide receiver Chad Johnson when he enters the ring for his boxing debut in an exhibition against Brian Maxwell on the Mayweather vs. Paul SHOWTIME PPV undercard Sunday, June 6 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. The sponsorship’s highlight includes the fight night outfit that Johnson will wear as he enters the ring.
A co-host on Marshall’s popular I AM ATHLETE podcast, Johnson has entrusted HOA Chief Creative Officer Michi Marshall in designing his attire for fight night, creating for Johnson a chic one-of-a-kind ensemble for this blockbuster event. Johnson’s ring outfit has been hand stitched by Kai Brown based off Michi’s overall design and sketches, helping to bring to life her unique vision.
“I wanted to create something that was classic yet elegant, while also being overstated and understated,” said Michi Marshall, who is married to Brandon and has a background in forensic psychology but also in fashion and went back to school in 2010 to complete her BA in fashion merchandising and marketing at the Illinois Institute of Art and Design in Chicago. “The classic vintage cursive that reads ‘Chad Johnson’ is to symbolize who he was born into this world as, while the bold print of ‘Ocho Cinco’ symbolizes the dream, the brand and the legacy that he created.”
“I consider HOA one big family, and Chad is an integral part of that,” said HOA’s Founder, Brandon Marshall. “With that in mind, we wanted to make sure that we are honoring all the work that Chad has put into this event, while staying true to the larger-than-life persona that’s made him known across the world.”
The black satin material that makes up the outfit will give off the stylish vibe Marshall strove for, while allowing Johnson to retain all of the comfort and functionality needed to perform. The ring attire will also feature the number 85, which Johnson became synonymous with throughout his career, and the “Hurricane Paula” moniker that is meant to honor Johnson’s late mother, who was a tremendous influence on his life. In addition, HOA logos will be featured on the front and back of Johnson’s trunks.
“The ‘House of Athlete’ logos on the front of the shorts show that at his core Chad is a body of work and a prime example of what an athlete is through and through,” said Michi Marshall. “I AM ATHLETE is arched across the back of the shorts to symbolize and establish the legacy that professional athletes give to the public by continuing to uplift, inspire and push the culture in a positive direction, for themselves, and for their professions.”
To further commemorate Johnson’s boxing debut, HOA has created a special limited edition t-shirt collection inspired by I AM ATHLETE’s “Ocho vs. Science” segments.
