According to Jeff Zimmerman and Miguel Maravilla of FightNews.com, Mikey Garcia has lost his WBO belt on the scales.
Juan Manuel Lopez can still win the vacant WBO title with a win over Garcia on Saturday night.
In an interview with Top Rank‘s Crystina Poncher, Lopez sounded unhappy and had the following to say:
He wasn’t very professional today by not making the weight. People were saying I was done, I was finished. People were saying I wasn’t going to make the weight. I made the weight with no problem and tomorrow I’ll show you what I can do.
Numerous outlets have reported that Garcia looked drained today and trying to make weight would have left him at a serious disadvantage.
