On undercard of the January 23 edition of PBC on Fox, Dominic Breazeale (16-0, 14 KOs) scored a tough win against Amir Mansour (22-1-1, 16 KOs) after the latter quit on his stool at the end of Round 5 of a scheduled 10-round Heavyweight fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

In what was the toughest fight of his career, Breazeale was on his back foot from the opening round as Mansour charged forward with wide shots.

Breazeale, a native of Gendale, California, was hurt badly in Round 2, but managed to finish the round on his feet.

In Round 3, Breazeale was dropped by a hard right hand that seemed to put him out for he fight.

“I’ve been on the canvas before. I just had my hand in the wrong place. It happens to the best of us,” said Breazeale.

Indeed, by the end of the round, it was Breazeale who was landing the harder shots and hurting Mansour. . Mansour, a native of Newark Deleware, was exhausted by Round 4, which allowed Breazeale to finally gain some control.

In Round 5, Breazale began to land more and mor effectively, though the threat of his being knocked down again loomed dangerously.

Fortunately for Breazeale, Mansour did not leave his stool for Round 5, perhaps because of a jaw injury. Had the fight continued, Breazeale might have been stopped.

“I didn’t know what happened. Usually when they wave off a fight, it’s over. Shows I have punching power after all,” said Breazeale.

What do you think of Breazeale’s victory? Were too many flaws exposed?
