Caleb Plant (18-0, 10 KOs) put on a dominant performance Sunday night in the Premier Boxing Champions on FS1 main event as he completely outclassed Jose Uzcategui (28-3, 23 KOs).

Not only did Plant pick up an impressive win, but he also snagged Uzcategui’s IBF Super Middleweight title in the process. The scorecards read 115-111 and two scores of 116-110 all in favor of Plant.

The keys to victory seemed easy for both men. Plant wanted to turn this into a boxing match, while Uzcategui wanted to end the fight early with his vaunted power.

Plant not only showed he was the superior boxer, but he also proved that he had the edge in power as well. The first round went the way Plant wanted, boxing and moving while landing the cleaner shots.

The second round is when he picked up steam. Plant floored his man early in the round and seemed to be in full control. The fourth round saw Plant land a huge left hand that once again floored the champion.

The first half of the fight was clearly dominated by Plant. The second half however saw things become much more competitive.

Uzcategui continued to come forward and finally found moments of success as he began to land huge shots. Plant seemed winded during the final rounds of the fight, but managed to get through the contest.

Uzcategui came on strong during the championship rounds. However, he gave away too many early rounds to complete his comeback.

Plant proved tonight that the hype surrounding him is warranted. He showed the ability to be both a supreme boxer and a devastating puncher.

If you didn’t know Caleb Plant’s name before tonight, you certainly do now. He just put the rest of the Super Middleweight division on notice.
