Last week, former Middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. announced that he’ll be fighting Light Heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara on April 18.
Chavez had planned to fight WBA Super Middleweight champion Carl Froch, but an injury will force Froch to be out of action until at least the summer.
Despite the postponement, Chavez is still confident that the fight will happen and that he will defeat Fonfara, who is a proven and tough fighter in the Light Heavyweight division.
“I am ready to beat Fonfara first and next, on July or June, fight Froch,” said Chavez in an interview with ESPN‘s Bernando Osuna.
The fight with Froch will undoubtedly be lucrative for both fighters, but we have yet to see how Chavez will do with someone of Fonfara’s size.
