On Friday night, Daniel Ponce de Leon announced on Twitter that he is willing to face unbeaten up-and-comer Gary Russell Jr.
According to Ponce de Leon, he is simply waiting for Russell Jr. to accept the fight.
Yo estoy puesto para darme un tiro con Garry Russell, estoy esperando que acepte y todo listo para el 7 de septiembre. Viva México raza.

Russell Jr. has yet to respond or validate the claims, but it is an interesting proposition.
It seems that Russell Jr. has been stuck in “prospect” mode for a while and fans have definitely been waiting for more activity against a higher caliber opponent.
