Saturday, March 15, 2014 Danny Garcia defeated Mauricio Herrera in a 12-round WBC Super Lightweight World Title.

Herrera provided a tough challenge for the “hometown” fighter and Garcia could never really get into a groove.

With open scoring system being used, we were able to hear the scores twice in between rounds which seemed to questionably favor Garcia.

At the end of the night, Garcia was bloodied, bruised and looked like he wasn’t too convinced that he won the fight.

Garcia retained his titles against Herrera with scores of 114-114, 116-112, 116-112, while Showtime’s three analyst’s all had it for Mauricio Herrera.

In the first matchup of the evening on Showtime Extreme, Daniel Jacobs scored a TKO in Round 1 over Milton Nunez. Nunez was run over by a motivated Jacobs who looks to score a late-year fight with Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin.

The second fight of the night featured former world champions Juan Manuel Lopez and Daniel Ponce de Leon squaring off in a 10-round rematch for the WBO International Junior Lightweight Title.

The first round was more measured then their first bout, which ended in a KO victory for Juan Manuel Lopez.

Round 2 heated up quickly as Ponce de Leon dropped Juan Ma with a vicious hook. Just when you thought that this would be Lopez’s fair well, he came back with a vengeance, scoring two knockdowns of his own before the referee jumped in and stopped the bout.

Deontay Wilder has been asked to step up his competition by boxing fans and pundits alike.

Tonight in Puerto Rico, he took on legitimate contender Malik Scott and delivered a huge KO.

Wilder stalked his opponent stretching a jab out multiple times before coming in with a nice left hook and dropping Scott to the canvas.

The punch–which initially didn’t look that hard–connected perfectly and Scott was not able to beat the count.
