On Friday, August 7, 2015 ShoBox returned with a televised card that featured two rising stars–one from Russia and one from Ukraine–in eight-round fights at Bally’s in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

RBRBoxing‘s photographer, Marilyn Paulino, was at ringside where she took some amazing shots from tonight’s action.

In the main event, Sergiy Derevyanchenko (6-0, 4 KOs) took on veteran Elvin Ayala (28-7-1, 12 KOs) in an eight-round Super Middleweight fight.

Derevyanchenko, 29, was too much for Ayala as he pushed forward calmly with jabs to the head and right hands to the body.

Ayala, 34, had been knocked out by many familiar names at Middleweight, including David Lemieux and Curtis Stevens.

Today, however, he would lose via unanimous decision, though he was hit with hard right and left hands throughout the fight by a calm and collected Derevyanchenko.

The native of Russia won with scores of 80-72, 80-71, and 80-71.

In the co-main event, Ievgen Khytrov (11-0, 10 KOs) scored a last-minute stoppage over Nick Brinson (17-4-2, 7 KOs) in the final round of their scheduled eight-rounder.

Khytrov,26, got off to a slow start as Brinson began outboxing him. However, the Ukrainian Middleweight eventually found his rhythm and landed a nasty body shot in Round 8.

Brinson, 27, took a knee in order to prevent being stopped, but the referee immediately called the fight. This immediately angered Brinson, who wanted to continue fighting.

Brinson, on the judges’ scorecards, was actually winning the fight at the time of  the stoppage. Two judges had it  65-68 and 62-70 for him, while one had it a 66-66 draw.

Khytrov remains undefeated, but showed a lot of flaws tonight.
