Different Odds Formats

There a lot of different cultures in the world and each has its own set of rules in life, and betting sites in Kenya with bonus too.

There a lot of different cultures in the world and each has its own set of rules in life, and betting sites in Kenya with bonus too. For example, football in Europe is not the same as football in the United States.

The terms can confuse people quite often. Additionally, online bookmakers serve people throughout the world but most people still opt for the local online providers because of their connection to terms and types of odds without realizing that they might find better odds out there if only they learn how to read them. We will cover that within this article.

Decimal Odds

This is the most common type of odds out there. The way to understand these odds is to multiply your stake with the decimal number meaning that an odd represents the return per one unit of investment. So, if you wager 100 units on a decimal odd of 1.65, you will gain 100*1.65 = 165 units. The return includes your additional stake so your winnings would be 65 units in this case.

Fractional Odds

These types of odds are most commonly used in the UK and go like 17/6. In order to calculate your winnings, you need to solve the fraction and get it to a decimal number firstly such as 17/6 = 2.83 and if you wage 100 units, you get 283 units.

American Odds

This type of odds comes in two formats, negative or positive numbers. Positive odds refer to how much a bettor would earn on a $100 bet meaning that if you have a +158 if you stake $100, you will get $158.

If the odds are negative, that means how much a better needs to wage in order to win $100. So, an odd of -158 means that a player needs to bet $158 in order to win $100.

Hong Kong Odds

The Hong Kong odds are similar to decimal, the only difference being the fact that the return is not included in the odds. So, if a decimal odd is 1.65, Hong Kong is 0.65 meaning that if you bet 100 units, you get 65 back plus your initial stake.

There are also numerous other types of odds available throughout the world which we may cover under a different article. If you think we have left out an important odds type, please leave a comment and we’ll get back to you immediately.
