The fight will be part of the explosive HBO Boxing After Dark fight card, which features an exciting Heavyweight matchup between Bryant Jennings and Luis Ortiz.
Ballard is 3-0 in 2015, most recently defeating Juan Carlos Rojas by unanimous decision in October on the Lucas Matthysse vs. Viktor Postol undercard.
Training out of the highly touted NoXcuse Boxing Club, Ballard is looking to put an exclamation point on this calendar year with a big win on the talent-rich card in Verona.
“I want to make sure that I show all of my talents, experience and growth in the ring. The focus, the intensity of my training has been stepped up, my entire camp has stepped it up and we are ready,” said Ballard.
While Ballard has shown explosive power, winning his first seven of eight bouts inside the distance, he has also displayed patience and the ability to box to a decision victory if needed.
“My primary focus going into this fight has been to become a better fighter, a more complete boxer,” said Ballard.
“Winning this fight and advancing my record to 11-0 just means I’m one step closer to the goal of a world championship and putting people on notice that I am a threat in the light heavyweight division.”
