On the day of Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin 2, Floyd Mayweather pulled a familiar move–he released a video claiming that he’s going to come out of retirement, again.
This time, Mayweather’s adversary, who is none other than Manny Pacquiao, actually appeared in the video with him.
But, according to a new report from TMZ, Mayweather isn’t jumping right back into the ring with Pacquiao just yet. Instead, Mayweather will be returning in what can only be considered a tune-up fight in Tokyo, Japan.
There’s no date set in stone for Mayweather’s first comeback bout, but according to the same report, New Year’s Eve is the target.
And if all goes well, Mayweather would be taking on Pacquiao sometime in 2019–not December 2018 as Mike Coppinger of Ring TV had previously reported.
Breaking: Talks for #MayweatherPacquiao2 are in the advanced stages and it’s expected there will be contracts out this week, according to industry sources. Once finalized, the fight will likely land in Las Vegas and two target dates are Dec. 1 and Dec. 8

But, this is all just speculation and until Mayweather actually announces his plans on some obscure platform (remember Shots?) we don’t know exactly what will go down.
Pacquiao seems anxious for some get back and sources say that the Filipino legend is aiming to finalize negotiations by the end of the week.
Regardless of the terms, one thing is for sure, the boxing betting lines for the fight already have the internet on fire with Mayweather coming out of the gates as the favorite.
