Frankie Gomez Overpowers Paris to 10-Round Decision Win

Frankie Gomez outworked and overpowered Vernon Paris en route to a 10-round unanimous decision victory at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.

Frankie Gomez (18-0, 13 KOs) outworked and overpowered Vernon Paris (28-1, 16 KOs) en route to a 10-round unanimous decision victory at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.

The Welterweight fight was the main event of a card presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Fox Sports 1.

Gomez, a 22-year-old Welterweight who recently overcame his troubles with the law in order to once again pursue a professional career, was too powerful and skillful for Paris.

In the first round, Gomez easily went under Paris’ jab to land powerful hooks to the body and head.

Paris was able to duck and roll some of Gomez’ punches, but he was still the victim of many of Gomez’s powershots.

In the second round, Gomez easily landed his straight right hand, landed more power shots, and overpowered Paris onto the ropes.

This was the pattern that was set for the entire fight with Gomez winning every single round.

Gomez was much to skillful and powerful for Paris as he easily landed punches and changed angles to land more.

Paris was able to land some punches of his own, but his offense never had the pop or the effect that Gomez’s power shots had.

All judges scored the bout 100-89 for Gomez.

In the co-main event, Middleweight prospect Terrell Gausha (11-0, 6 KOs) knocked out Ronnie Warrior Jr. (15-9-1, 5 KOs) in the very first round of a scheduled eight-round fight.

The 26-year-old Cleveland, Ohio native made quick work of Warrior, walking him down to the ropes before landing a powerful flurry that ended with a fight-finishing right hook.
